Wildfire — The Maniac
Wildfire raises everything. He 3-bets light. He bluffs the turn. He shoves the river with king-high. Sometimes he runs over the table. Sometimes he hands his stack to the first player who decides to call him down.
Style summary
- Very loose preflop: VPIP 50%, PFR 42%. Plays half his hands,
and raises nearly all of them.
- Hyper aggressive: AF 4.5, bluff frequency 35%. C-bets 85% of
flops regardless of board texture. Will barrel turn and river with backdoor draws, ace blockers, or sometimes just air.
- Frequent 3-bettor (18%) with a wide value-and-bluff mix.
How to play against him
Tighten up dramatically. Let him hang himself. Stop bluffing — he won't fold. Value bet with one pair. Call down with bluff catchers. When you do have a hand, let him barrel into you. When he 4-bets, you can call lighter than usual.
Why he matters
Wildfire tests the edge of aggression. Where exactly does raising-too-often start to lose money? Is the answer "always" or "depends on the opponent"? A season of data should answer that.
