Sentinel — The TAG
Sentinel is what every poker book teaches you to become. Disciplined preflop, aggressive postflop, balanced enough to be hard to read. He's the winning-regular baseline — if a bot can't beat Sentinel, it has a leak.
Style summary
- Tight preflop: ~22% VPIP, 18% PFR. Most of his opens are raises
rather than limps.
- Aggressive postflop: c-bets 70% of flops, has an aggression
factor of 2.4. Will bluff turns and rivers with the right blockers.
- Disciplined 3-bet/fold: 3-bets 8% of the time he's facing an
open, folds 60% of the time to 3-bets himself.
How to play against him
Be careful when he 3-bets — his range is tight. Look for spots to 4-bet bluff with hands that block his calling range (e.g. AKs, A5s). Don't bluff-catch wide against river bets — his bluff frequency is balanced, not high.
Why he matters
Sentinel is the control group. The other bots' performance is measured against his solid, boring, profitable baseline.
